A message from Swindon Borough Council:

As a representative for Swindon Borough Council, I write to inform you of proposed works programmed at Wordsworth Drive. The site extents can be viewed on the document attached. These works are being carried out by Ringway Infrastructure Services on behalf of Swindon Borough Council.

The purpose of the scheme is to replace the existing concrete footpaths in the front and rear of the buildings and construct two new bin storage areas, the aim is to update the footways in order to increase the life span of the footway and to provide a safer and better location for your bins to be stored and collected. These works involve reconstruction and resurfacing of the footway, installation of new kerbs where required and surfacing.

The works are provisionally programmed to commence on Monday 29th June 2020 for 5 weeks between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, however, on occasions they may over run due to uncontrollable circumstances such as plant breakdowns, if weather conditions are unfavourable, or occasionally we discover the need for additional repairs once the work has started.

The work force will maintain pedestrian access for the duration; however due to the nature of the works, disruption is inevitable and vehicular access will be restricted. It is essential that the footway and vehicular accesses remain un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early use could lead to premature failure.

As there are two points of access and egress into the building we have opted to complete these works in two phases, starting at the front of the building where we request that you gain access/egress via the rear door and when we are working to the rear of the building, you utilise the front access for the duration of the works.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause, but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Swindon’s highway network. Due to the current pandemic we will ensure that we follow all the government guidelines to enforce safety of our work force and will use measure to ensure that we do have social distancing between ourselves and the public.

Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details shown below. If you wish to discuss the works whilst they are in operation, please speak to a member of the workforce who will direct you to the appropriate person.

Yours faithfully
