Parkwood Leisure
and Stratton St Margaret Parish Council have agreed a 15-year lease for the
future running of Grange Leisure with effect from 1 July 2019.

Parkwood Leisure
who are one of the UK’s leading leisure management companies, have been
successful in their bid to run Grange Leisure on behalf of the Parish Council
following a year’s discussion with the Council through a public procurement
process and two open public consultations.

The building still
remains the responsibility of the Parish Council but the day to day running of
it will fall under the responsibility of Parkwood Leisure who have exciting
plans to further increase leisure, fitness and community cohesion.  All current leisure centre employees will be
subject to TUPE and the Parish Council offices and staff will move back to
Meadowcroft Community Centre.

excited to be taking over and are committed to engaging with residents to
fulfil our aim of helping communities to be happier and healthier,” said Glen Hall, Parkwood’s
director of operations.

“The local community is always at
the heart of everything we do so we’re looking forward to executing the planned
changes to Grange Leisure Centre. This will enable us to create the best
possible service to encourage fitness and social activities throughout the
community and wider population.”

The Parish Council
will be committed to invest £850,000 at the start of the contract which will go
toward internal alterations as a capital investment and will then receive a
yearly management fee from Parkwood Leisure over the period of the contract
which will save the council in the region of £179,000 per annum.

These financial
savings once realised will be invested back into the community and possible
reduction in Precept levy.

All activities will continue to be
reviewed by Parkwood, which manages more than 90 facilities on behalf of
councils and schools throughout England and Wales, to ensure the best quality
service is continually provided to and for the local community.
