PARKWOOD LEISURE KICKS OFF NEW STRATTON ST MARGARET LEISURE CONTRACT

Stratton St Margaret Parish Council
Chairman Cllr Robert Jandy and Parkwood Leisure’s Managing Director Glen Hall
visited Grange Leisure Centre today to mark the start of the new contract.

Monday 01 July 2019 – Today sees the
start of a new era for Grange Leisure & Community Centre, as Parkwood
Leisure takes on the running of the facility.

As one of the
UK’s leading leisure facilities operators, Parkwood has secured a new 15-year
lease to run the site on behalf of Stratton St Margaret Parish Council.

The appointment
followed a year’s discussion with the Council through a public procurement
process and two open public consultations.

As part of the
new contract, which officially began today (Monday 1st July), the Grange will
soon benefit from upgraded leisure facilities thanks to a £850,000 improvement
project at the centre.

Stratton St
Margaret Parish Council is investing to significantly improve the facilities at
the Wiltshire-based site, with plans to upgrade the gym including new equipment
and a dedicated functional training area, plus two new fitness studios.

Wider centre
renovations are also planned to include alterations to the main bar and the
introduction of a new soft play area and community café-bar.

Speaking today
at the official handover, Parkwood Leisure managing director Glen Hall said:
“We are delighted to be working with the council to take on the running of
Grange Leisure Centre. It is a real hub for the local community, and we are
proud to bring our 25 years’ experience to Stratton to offer enhanced
facilities and a greater variety of activities, in turn helping to get more
people healthier and happier.”

Stratton St
Margaret Parish Council’s Chairman, Cllr Robert Jandy, said: ““The council is
committed to providing quality leisure facilities for all parish residents and
our partnership with Parkwood Leisure, coupled with the new investment, will
ensure we can deliver these.

“We are very
happy with our choice in operator in Parkwood and believe the partnership will
hugely benefit the local community and support us in our aim of doing the best
we can for our parishioners.”
