The Parish Precept
Stratton St Margaret Parish Council agreed its Precept demand on the Swindon Borough Council at its 17 January 2017 meeting.
The Precept is set at £1,165,809 based on an average of 6934.8 band D households. This equates to a charge of £168.11 per annum and represents an increase of 27% which is an additional £35.74 per annum or £2.98 per month.
This necessary increase will ensure that there will be no compromise to the high level of standard that the Parish Council provides which includes grass cutting and maintenance of Recreational areas, plus additional Streetsmart sevices that will be taken on from Swindon Borough Council as of April 2017. In the Parish, there are 11 Play Parks, 2 Allotment sites and Burial Grounds. The Council also maintains a Leisure Centre, Coffee Shop, Bar and Community Hall. It prides itself with its successful Stratton Festival and Christmas Extravaganza and produces a magazine to every household 3 times a year. The Council is also working on a Neighbourhood Plan and will embark on improvements to its play areas around the Parish.
