Seasonal Grounds Team Operative from 1 April 2017 to 31 October 2017

Starting salary SCP 19 £18,560 per annum pro rata

We are currently recruiting a Seasonal Grounds Team Operative based in Stratton St Margaret. To be part of the grounds delivery team working across The Parish to ensure safe, tidy and well maintained parks and open spaces. Providing a visible presence in Parish Parks and Open Spaces whilst performing grounds maintenance and environmental cleansing.

The duties will include:

  • Use of hydraulic ride on mowers or sweepers
  • Basic maintenance and safe use of power tools such as hedge trimmers and wood chipper
  • Maintenance and safe use of hand tools, strimmers, vacuums, blowers, push mowers etc.
  • Flower beds maintenance, weeding, fertilising plants and grass
  • Herbicide application
  • Ensuring that all sites are kept clean and tidy and free of litter
  • Emptying Litter and Dog Bins

37 hours per week, across 5 days including Saturdays
7.30 am – 3.30 pm Mon – Thurs  7.30 am – 3.00 pm Fri – Sat

All equipment provided along with PPE and uniform

Grounds Team Street Cleaning Operative          

Starting salary SCP 19 £18,746 per annum

To be part of the grounds delivery team working across the Parish to ensure safe, tidy and well maintained parks and open spaces.  Performing maintenance and environmental cleansing throughout Parish Parks and Open Spaces.

The duties will include:

  • Cleansing work including sweeping, litter picking and leaf collection in our streets, pavements, shopping areas, parks and housing areas, including the safe disposal of hypodermic needles, clearing away of broken glass etc.
  • Daily emptying litter and dog bins.
  • Drive and be responsible for allocated non-LGV vehicles. Duties include vehicle checks and required maintenance and cleaning.
  • Removing graffiti and fly tipping, removal of dead animals, blood, debris etc. after accidents as required. This can include the safe removal and disposal of dangerous and hazardous materials e.g. asbestos.
  • Ensure all street furniture, noticeboards, road signs etc. are kept clean and tidy and to report any vandalism.
  • Salting and snow clearing during icy weather outside shopping areas and Parish buildings.
  • Maintenance of benches, bins, railings, Parish flag pole etc.
  • Maintenance and safe use of hand tools, strimmers, vacuums, blowers, push mowers etc

37 hours per week, across 5 days including Saturdays

Social Media & Marketing Administrator 

Starting salary  £19,430 per annum pro rata

Are you a Digital Media whizz? Are you blogging, tweeting and posting all the time and can’t think of a better job?

We are looking for an Administrator to take charge of our on line content and immerse themselves in our Marketing Department so that everyone can find out about all the functions, classes, parish council new and events that are happening each week at Grange Leisure and across the Parish.

You will develop relationships with local businesses to enhance sponsorship and marketing opportunities and ensure that our target audiences are engaged in what we do, and what’s on offer in the Parish through creative social media strategies.

The duties will include:

  • Create content and maintain the website, blogs and social media sites.
  • Assist in the organisation of photo calls, interviews and press and media articles.
  • Promotions and marketing of our events – from social media to flyers and banners, we need to reach out to the community to publicise all the great things we do, and of course make sure we’ve got tickets to sell.
  • Assist in the production of the Stratton News, its content, proofing and distribution.
  • Attend press events and maintain the press database and monitor media.
  • Someone has to handle all the enquiries we get, so communication skills are key – a happy telephone manner, great written English and a positive approach help keep our prospective customers happy and informed about what we do is vital.

20 hours per week, during office hours to be discussed further at interview.

Events & Functions Intern

Are you studying Hotel Management? Events Management or Leisure and Tourism?

Looking for some relevant experience to add to your C.V? Available now until August 2017?

Our Events & Functions Intern will develop and deliver exceptional events and functions within the Community. You’ll gain experience of Corporate Events, Weddings, Boxing Nights, our impressive Stratton Festival and Stratton Stroll as well as theme nights, birthday parties and everything else you can imagine in a busy events and functions organization.

The duties will include:

  • Roll up your sleeves and get involved. From moving tables, folding napkins and blowing up balloons to arranging beer tents and Security, you’ll be hands on in every way with our functions and events.
  • In addition, there’s lots of behind the scenes administration that goes into making our events great – brewery agreements, health and safety checks, festival maps, checking and double checking bookings and that everything and everybody is where they are supposed to be on the right date and at the right time.
  • Then there’s the promotions and marketing of our events – from social media to flyers and banners, we need to reach out to the community to publicise all the great things we do, and of course make sure we’ve got tickets to sell.
  • Once you’ve established yourself as an organised, reliable and trusted Events & Functions Intern, you may be asked to act as the Welcoming Host at our Parties and Weddings, welcoming the happy couple or birthday boy or girl.
  • Someone has to handle all the enquiries we get, so communication skills are key – a happy telephone manner and a positive approach help keep our prospective customers happy and informed about what we do is vital.

We’re a business that operates 7 days a week, from 7am to late at night. We don’t mind if you don’t want full time hours – talk to us about what would suit you. We’re keen to grow the team over the Spring and Summer periods so it’s a fixed term role until August 2017. However, all applicants must be age 18+ and happy to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays and be available to work 17 to 22 July as it’s our busiest time.

Centre Assistants Vacancies

Pay rate: £7.66 per hour

We have vacancies for casual part time hours at Grange Leisure in Stratton St Margaret that can fit around your other commitments.

The Centre Assistant job role includes:

  • Setting up and taking down of function and leisure equipment, checking it is not damaged and is safe to use
  • Customer services, meeting and greeting on Reception and handling queries, charging admission, taking bookings, renting out equipment, handling cash or answering the phone
  • Selling refreshments and making hot drinks in a cafe or bar area
  • Promoting sports activities at the Leisure Centre and areas in the ownership of the Council both inside and outside events
  • General cleaning tasks and daily maintenance including Checking, tidying and cleaning all areas of the centre, litter picking and building checks

Applicants must be smart and presentable, display great customer service and be happy to clean, tidy carry out general maintenance tasks. It’s a physical role, moving furniture and fitness equipment as well as answering customer queries and providing support on reception. Cash handling means that you need to be numerate and capable of cashing up and carrying out administration duties so computer literacy is necessary.

Hours : We operate 7 days a week, from 7am to late at night. We don’t mind if you don’t want full time hours – talk to us about what would suit you. All applicants must be age 18+ and happy to work evenings and weekends.

Temporary Receptionist  

Are you super organized with exceptional customer service skills? Available now until Easter?

Pay rate: £7.85 per hour

Your main role will be to assist in the efficient operation of Grange Leisure Centre with the specific responsibility for the function of the reception and Grange Leisure Coffee Shop.

The duties will include:

  • Responsible for receiving and processing all Leisure Centre bookings.
  • Ensure that the electronic record for facilities and activities at Grange Leisure Centre are accurate, up to date, properly maintained, and reports produced as required.
  • Use of the Grange Leisure Centre data booking software.
  • Responsible for the issue of equipment hire and receipts for all activities including sporting and entertainment events.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of the cash register at the beginning and at the end of each shift.
  • Involved in the compilation and processing of invoices for room hire charges.
  • Provide clerical support including the use of all Microsoft applications, filing, photocopying and dealing with the post.
  • To issue membership cards and checking the Electoral Roll for verification.
  • Responsible for advising customers in relation to the hire of rooms and use of all facilities.
  • Prepare the Coffee Shop in readiness for opening hours and ensure service and seating areas are cleared and cleaned before close.
  • Prepare, serve and sell food and drink and ensure a friendly, welcoming and inclusive coffee shop atmosphere.
  • Someone has to handle all the enquiries we get, so communication skills are key – a happy telephone manner and a positive approach help keep our prospective customers happy and informed about what we do is vital.

Hours : We’re a business that operates 7 days a week, from 7am to late at night. We would ideally like someone prepared to work from 8am to 4.30pm 5 days per week but talk to us about what hours would suit you. We’re keen to grow the team over the busy Spring period so initially we are advertising a fixed term role until mid April 2017.
