Stratton St Margaret Parish Council is organising another Christmas Day lunch for isolated people in the community following the success of last year’s event.
The lunch will be assisted purely by volunteers and is being held at the Parish Council’s Leisure Centre at Grange Drive.
The Head Chef, Chris Matthews will be giving up his Christmas day to prepare the lunch together with a group of volunteers, who will help to prepare and serve the food. The Council is asking people to contact them if they know anyone that could benefit from attending this event. To reserve a place call 01793 825525 and speak to Emily Harris.
The Parish Council is also hoping to be able to provide a small gift to those attending, as it may be the only gift that they receive on that day. Any contribution, either financially or as a token gift will be very much appreciated. It is vital that businesses, local groups and volunteers work together to support their local community.
Tracy Predeth, Clerk to the Council said: “Please donate and help us make this event a success for those less fortunate than ourselves. Last year we received lots of gifts to hand out to the community and we were really touched by the sheer generosity”.
The Parish Council would like to thank the following businesses and people for their kindness and generosity:
- Dennis’ Removals
- Microshade VSM
- George Scarrott Fun Fair
- Pearce Funeral Services
- Bob’s Brownies
- Grange Drive News Shop
- Mini Swindon
- Local community donations
- Grange Leisure Centre gift donations
- Swindon Lodge of Moose International
Tracy Predeth, Clerk to the Council said: “We are so very grateful for all the lovely gifts and generous donations this year. There will be plenty of turkey and Christmas pudding to go around, so please do get in contact with us to book your lunch places.”
