Autumn Fayre Swindon

Autumn Fayre – a new event to remember the past traditions of the parish

Stratton St Margaret Parish Council is organising an inaugural Autumn Fayre on Saturday 16 September from midday to 5pm. The event will be held at Meadowcroft Community Centre in Addison Crescent, Upper Stratton, Swindon, SN2 7JX.

The overall idea of the Autumn Fayre is to show people rural skills and past traditions so there will be a mix of activities going on including wood turning, allotment prize giving, a horticultural show, craft stalls, fun fair and BBQ.

The Parish Council is looking for some re-enactment groups who are free on the day. The aim is show the younger community how things used to be, the rural skills and past traditions that were used by our ancestors. Please contact the Parish Council if you have a group that may be interested.

The Clerk to the Council said “The idea of including re-enactment groups will assist toward showcasing living history in the parish so if anyone has any contacts in the area or indeed historic material we would love to hear from you ”.
